Started in 2011, this project aims to improve the quality of life for vulnerable groups and spread a culture of sharing by implementing welfare projects tailored to the characteristics of each neighborhood and institution that have formed mutual partnerships.
Currently, 17 institutions have formed partnerships with Jongno-gu, including Korea Racing Authority, Segumjeong Church, Dongseung Co., Ltd., LINA Senior Foundation, Woori Card Co., Ltd., Maeil Dairies Co., Ltd., Hyundai Engineering & Construction, and Korean Reinsurance Company. These institutions have been conducting various sponsorship activities for low-income neighbors, and the donations collected through the 1 Company 1 Neighborhood program have reached 2.3 billion KRW.
On the 16th of last month, the Methodist Church Gungjeong Church, Hana Tour Co., Ltd., and KMI Korea Medical Institute formed new partnerships and pledged to work together for the smooth promotion of the 1 Company 1 Neighborhood project.
Each institution plans to introduce various welfare projects in cooperation with Cheongunhyoja-dong, Sajik-dong, and Pyeongchang-dong Community Service Centers. The project period is one year from the date of the agreement and will be automatically extended unless either party expresses a desire to terminate.
The main contents include cash support such as living expenses and tuition for low-income residents, material support including groceries and daily necessities, and volunteer activities by company employees.
Meanwhile, Hana Tour Co., Ltd., which formed a new partnership last month, delivered dementia prevention coloring kits for the elderly, made directly by its employees, to Sajik-dong, practicing neighborly love and bringing warmth as the year-end approaches.
District Mayor Jeong Munheon said, “I sincerely thank the related companies and organizations that willingly decided to support neighbors in need despite the difficult economic situation,” and added, “We will continue to join forces between the public and private sectors to share warm hearts and create a happier Jongno together.”
