On the morning of the 2nd, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon invited nine social heroes and their families, totaling 18 people, to enjoy the sunrise at Gwanggyo Lake Park in Suwon, sharing a breakfast of rice cake soup with dumplings and exchanging well-wishes.
This event was planned with the purpose of offering a warm meal to those who served as role models in society by practicing life-saving, accident prevention, and neighborly love for the residents throughout 2024, and to wish for a happy 2025.

Governor Kim Dong-yeon explained the background, saying, "I invited the heroes who have done many good deeds and acts of kindness in Gyeonggi Province to have breakfast and take a walk together, to express my gratitude and to bring good energy to our 14.1 million residents on the first working day of the new year."
He continued, "The country is currently very unsettled, society is divided, fighting, and in conflict, but I am deeply thankful that you have done wonderful things in Gyeonggi Province and joined us with warm hearts. I hope this purpose spreads widely, and I will do my best to make Gyeonggi Province a warm society."
The invited heroes on this day included: Lee Yoon-geun, a merchant at Anyang Agricultural and Marine Products Wholesale Market, who controlled market entry with a swift initial response during the record heavy snowfall at the end of November to guide merchants to evacuate safely; Yoon Jin-han, a public official from Anyang City; high school student Yoo Tae-kyung, who discovered an overturned vehicle on the Gyeongbu Expressway and risked his safety to rescue two passengers; nurse Gu Ah-ra, who saved an elderly person who collapsed at a gym with prompt CPR; and the Suwon Yeongtong Howstory Residents' Representative Meeting, which raised funds among residents after learning about the apartment security guard’s battle with cancer.
