[Muan County Aircraft Crash] Mourners Continue to Visit Joint Memorial Altar

Over 10,000 Mourners from All Walks of Life Nationwide Visit
120 County Office Staff and 300 Volunteers Deployed

Muan County, Jeonnam (Governor Kim San) announced that a steady stream of mourners has been visiting the joint memorial altar set up at Muan Sports Park on the 30th of last month in connection with the Jeju Air passenger plane accident.


According to the county on the 2nd, a total of 236 key figures, including Acting President Choi Sangmok and National Assembly Speaker Woo Wonshik, as well as 10,823 mourners (as of January 1), have visited the joint memorial altar at Muan Sports Park over three days. In addition, 293 condolence wreaths sent from all walks of life across the country are offering comfort to the victims.

The county has stationed 120 staff members at the altar in two shifts to ensure the convenience and safety of visitors. Outside the altar, 300 volunteers are engaged in daily service activities such as operating the "Love Food Truck," providing various supplies, and guiding mourners, offering comfort to the victims' families and sharing in their grief.


The joint memorial altar at Muan Sports Park will remain open until further notice, with operating hours from 9 a.m. to midnight. Muan County plans to thoroughly review the operation of the altar and further enhance support for visitors' convenience.


Governor Kim San stated, "The fervor to honor the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane tragedy is growing day by day," and urged, "Please do your utmost to ensure the safety of mourners and the smooth operation of the memorial altar."
