[New Year's Message] Choi Juseon, Samsung SDI CEO, "Technology Focus Needed in Severe Environments"

Urging Efforts for a Strong Organizational Culture Based on Trust and Communication

Choi Ju-seon, CEO of Samsung SDI, emphasized that "we must return to the fundamentals and build a company centered on 'technological capability' that constantly innovates and challenges itself."

In his New Year's message on the 2nd, CEO Choi stated, "This year, the business environment is expected to be more severe than ever due to increased uncertainty following the inauguration of the second Trump administration and the ongoing unresolved instability in international affairs."

He then urged employees, "We must closely sense what the market wants and strengthen technology and quality from the customer's perspective." In particular, he said, "Our survival depends on securing future technological capabilities. Technology is hope," adding, "We must proactively discover technologies that can change the world, prepare for the supercycle, and ride it."

Regarding last year's business environment and performance, CEO Choi acknowledged, "There were many difficulties due to the slowdown in growth of the front-end market, including electric vehicles," but also evaluated that "we achieved certain results such as strengthening partnerships with customers, enhancing cost competitiveness, and developing technologies to prepare for the future."

He continued, "Let us strive to eliminate unnecessary processes, enhance efficiency, comply with laws in all work processes, and create a robust organizational culture based on trust and communication."

He especially added, "I will take the lead in contemplating and practicing this," and said, "If all employees actively participate, 2025 will be a year of renewed leap forward."

CEO Choi was appointed as the new CEO of Samsung SDI in November last year. In his inaugural speech, he stated, "The essence of manufacturing and the key to winning in competition is to develop excellent products based on differentiated technological capabilities and to create the highest quality products recognized by customers."
