Management Slogan 'Customer-Centered First-Class Shinhan Humanitas, Communitas'

Jin Ok-dong, Chairman of Shinhan Financial Group, stated on the 1st, "We will firmly establish internal control as Shinhan's core competitiveness," and added, "We will view finance from the customer's perspective and pursue fundamental innovation in our core business."


In his New Year's address, Chairman Jin said, "This year is expected to present a more challenging management environment than ever due to sluggish domestic demand, slowing exports, and increasing external uncertainties."

Regarding the Jeju Air Flight 2216 runway excursion accident, Chairman Jin first expressed, "I offer my condolences to the victims who lost their lives in this unfortunate accident," and "I also extend my deepest sympathies to the bereaved families."


He continued, "This year will be a time that determines Shinhan's sustainability," emphasizing, "As we enter a super-aged society and face changes in the industrial ecosystem, we must complete the tasks of becoming a world-class Shinhan and successfully fulfill the promises made to shareholders and the market outlined in our corporate value enhancement plan."


As strategies to achieve this, Chairman Jin presented ▲establishing effective internal controls ▲creating differentiated customer value ▲strengthening capabilities as a corporate citizen and addressing social issues through finance.


He stated, "This year, we will meticulously oversee management supervision, evaluation, and monitoring to ensure a more practical internal control system operates, thereby strengthening employees' ethical awareness. We will firmly establish internal control as Shinhan's core competitiveness," and added, "We will further advance customer experience management and expand solutions centered on financial consumers as well as synergies within the group companies."


Furthermore, Chairman Jin emphasized, "We will increase the supply of green finance and transition finance to support the shift to a low-carbon economy," and "We will seek practical solutions to the low birthrate issue, which our society must solve together, and make sincere efforts to support the younger generation."


Chairman Jin also presented this year's management slogan as ‘Customer-Centered World-Class Shinhan Humanitas, Communitas.’ Quoting the Roman philosopher Cicero, who said that all excellence in life lies in fulfilling one's duties and all disgrace lies in neglecting them, he explained, "Humanitas means humanity," and stated, "Financial professionals must place customer trust as the highest value, not personal or corporate profit. When all Shinhan employees practice Humanitas, finance can become a driving force for creating a better society."


He further said, "Communitas refers to community. As members of the Shinhan community, we must consider our hardworking colleagues, care about the sustainability of the organization, and take seriously the expectations of customers who support us," emphasizing, "When all Shinhan employees build Communitas, Shinhan's sustainability will become even stronger."


Chairman Jin concluded, "We must become indispensable to our customers. We must prove Shinhan's reason for existence and continue sustainability," and expressed hope that "2025 will be a year where Shinhan meets expectations and love as a reliable Shinhan for customers, a proud Shinhan for shareholders, and a warm Shinhan neighbor to our society."
