Global IT market research firm IDC has selected Samsung SDS as the top cloud service provider in South Korea.
According to IDC's 2023 "Domestic Managed Cloud Service (MSP) Market Share Report" released on the 2nd, Samsung SDS recorded the highest market share at 23.9%. This is the first time IDC has published an evaluation of domestic MSP providers. MSP providers efficiently manage corporate customers' cloud usage and offer services including infrastructure management, security, and monitoring.
Samsung SDS emphasized that it achieved a high growth rate compared to the previous year by successfully carrying out cloud migration and application modernization projects for customers in manufacturing, finance, and distribution sectors, including Samsung Electronics, Samsung affiliates, Korean Air, and Hanwha Life.
Additionally, Samsung SDS ranked second with an 11.0% market share in IDC's "Domestic Public Cloud Service (CSP) Market Share Report," the highest among domestic cloud companies.
IDC stated that Samsung SDS secured its market position and increased customer satisfaction by successfully executing projects to migrate customers' systems?including Samsung affiliates, public sector, manufacturing, and finance?to cloud services based on SCP (Samsung Cloud Platform).
Last year, Samsung SDS aggressively expanded its cloud business across all areas, achieving sales of 1.7238 trillion KRW by the third quarter of this year, a 30% increase compared to the same period last year.
Earlier, in the "IDC MarketScape" report released in June last year, Samsung SDS was the only domestic company selected as a "Major Player" alongside global cloud service companies such as IBM, Dell, and KPMG.
IDC MarketScape is a report that evaluates companies in the relevant field by comprehensively analyzing product and service competitiveness, as well as business strategies and customer base over the next 3 to 5 years.
IDC highlighted Samsung SDS's differentiated consulting, cloud migration and construction services, and cloud platform (SCP) as strengths, and also highly rated its business strategy and employee capabilities.
Lee Jeong-heon, Head of Strategy Marketing at Samsung SDS, said, "Based on the IT experience and capabilities we have accumulated so far, we will become a strategic partner that accompanies customers on their business innovation, cloud, and generative AI journeys."
