At the CES 2025 exhibition hall, LG Electronics plans to showcase the concept car 'MX platform' under the theme 'Lifestyle Solution for Mobility.' This vehicle is a 'mobile customized space' created by combining AI home appliances and Internet of Things (IoT) devices tailored to each customer's lifestyle. It is the result of extending the AI home experience into the vehicle. LG Electronics expects that this MX platform will provide a differentiated customer experience that offers the convenience and comfort of home in a moving space. In particular, home appliances found in living rooms, dressing rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, and more can be combined modularly to create the most suitable mobility space for the customer. For example, a vehicle equipped with the MX platform can be used as a multifunctional space such as a resting place, creative studio, or hobby and preference space for those who need their own space outside the home.
Additionally, the MX platform offers a more personalized experience through the AI home hub 'LG ThinQ ON.' ThinQ ON, equipped with generative AI, manages schedules and provides necessary information such as weather and traffic by conversing with customers. It plans to connect with external services like food ordering, laundry, and restaurant reservations. Furthermore, it monitors the in-vehicle environment in real-time, including home appliances and IoT devices, to care for the customer's health.
Previously, LG Electronics declared the era of AI homes where generative AI interacts with customers last year. Ultimately, they announced plans to expand the AI home to all places where customers stay, such as commercial and mobility spaces. The AI home, expanded into various spaces, evolves the domain of home appliances into spatial solutions that care for customers' overall lives, providing new value to customers.
LG Electronics conceived the MX platform in line with the trend of the mobility industry transforming into experiential spaces. Through a survey of approximately 31,000 people worldwide on 'perceptions of cars in daily life,' they confirmed that customers perceive autonomous vehicles as 'their own space to play, stay, and work.' 72% of respondents said they enjoy the time spent in vehicles as their own time rather than wasted time, and 43% said they regard vehicles as meaningful personal spaces beyond mere transportation.
Jae-cheol Ryu, President of LG Electronics' HS Business Division, said, "Based on the home appliances and AI home technologies that LG Electronics is leading, we have presented a new direction for spatial solutions that offer innovative mobility experiences. We will collaborate with various partners to connect and expand customers' daily lives across all spaces."
