On the 2nd, Meritz Securities analyzed that with the change of the largest shareholder of Rainbow Robotics to Samsung Electronics, the possibility of captive (internal market among affiliates) sales has increased.

Jiho Lee, a researcher at Meritz Securities, explained, "Samsung Electronics has expanded its stake in Rainbow Robotics and simultaneously established the Future Robot Promotion Team directly under President Han Jong-hee," adding, "By combining Samsung Electronics' artificial intelligence (AI) and software technology with Rainbow Robotics' robot hardware technology, the development of humanoids will accelerate."

He continued, "There is a possibility that the research and development (R&D) personnel, who were reassigned under Samsung Research after the disbandment of Samsung Electronics' robot business team in May last year, will be redeployed to the promotion team," and added, "Oh Junho, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) who was the largest shareholder of Rainbow Robotics, is expected to serve as the head of the Future Robot Promotion Team and as an advisor to Samsung Electronics."

Furthermore, he emphasized, "As the development direction centered on humanoids becomes more solidified, synergy effects between Samsung Electronics and Rainbow Robotics are expected."

The researcher analyzed, "With the launch of the synergy council, Rainbow Robotics has a greater possibility of generating captive sales to affiliates," and "It is expected to achieve exports within the year by utilizing the global sales infrastructure network." He also mentioned, "The unveiling of the bipedal humanoid prototype, which was being developed with the goal of release earlier this year, may be somewhat delayed due to the process of being incorporated as a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics," but added, "It is time to focus on securing competitiveness based on the interoperability of mid- to long-term portable devices, home appliances, and robots/humanoids."
