Yeon Won-jeong, head of the Ministry of Personnel Management, stated in his New Year's address on the 1st, "We will improve the treatment levels and working conditions of public officials to create a public service society where all public officials can work with greater enthusiasm."

Yeon said, "The Ministry of Personnel Management will actively support all public officials so that they can focus on their core duties," emphasizing this commitment.

He continued, "We will nurture skilled public officials with expertise through job- and performance-centered personnel management," and stressed, "We will establish a personnel system that timely responds to rapidly changing environments such as low birth rates to realize a competitive government prepared for the future."

Yeon added, "We will establish strict public service ethics and create conditions that enable proactive administration to become a trusted public service society for the people."

Furthermore, he said, "This year is the Year of the Blue Snake, symbolizing wisdom and change," and added, "I sincerely hope that by gathering our wisdom together, we will wisely overcome the changes and crises we will face."
