107 Cases Deleted and Blocked
The police have launched an investigation into malicious online posts that insult the victims and bereaved families of the Muan Airport Jeju Air passenger plane disaster.
According to the Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency on the 1st, the police confirmed three insulting posts related to the disaster that were posted on online communities. These posts are known to be defamatory writings about the compensation that the victims' families are to receive.
The police will file charges of insult and investigate the circumstances as soon as the identity of the authors is identified. In addition, 107 malicious online comments and posts discovered through monitoring have been deleted and blocked.
A representative of the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency said, "Site operators have also promised active cooperation with the police investigation," and added, "We will actively take legal action against online posts that mock or belittle the victims or their families."
