Identity of all individuals confirmed as of 6 AM on the 1st
On the fourth day since the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster, the identities of all 179 deceased have been confirmed as of the 1st.
According to the 'Jeju Air Passenger Plane Accident Situation Report' announced by the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on the same day, the identities of all 179 deceased were confirmed as of 6 a.m. Currently, 168 bodies are placed in temporary morgues, and a total of 11 have been transferred to funeral halls.
The identities of five deceased individuals who had not been identified until the previous day were all confirmed on this day. There were 181 passengers on board the accident plane, of whom two crew members were rescued after the accident.
On the evening of the previous day, two additional investigators arrived from the United States. They formed a joint investigation team with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and others, set up a temporary headquarters at the airport, and are conducting on-site investigations. The U.S. investigation team consists of 10 members: one from the Federal Aviation Administration, three from the National Transportation Safety Board, and six employees from Boeing, the aircraft manufacturer. They plan to begin visual inspections of the wreckage, including the airframe and engines, as well as bird strike traces, starting from the 1st.
Regarding the black box investigation to determine the cause of the aircraft disaster at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated, "The voice recorder, one of the two black boxes, has begun extraction immediately, and the first data extraction has been completed," adding, "Work to convert this data into audio form has commenced." As for the flight data recorder, "The connector is missing, so technicians are currently inspecting how to extract the data."
