Creation of 14 Public Parking Spaces in Geumha Energy Self-Reliant Village, Doksan 1-dong
Expected Improvement of Parking Environment for Local Residents and Convenience for Visitors to the Energy Self-Reliant Village
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will create and operate a new public parking lot to alleviate parking difficulties in the Doksan 1-dong area.
The public parking lot is located within Geumha Village (Doksan 1-dong 1121, 1121-2), a specialized energy self-reliant village in Geumcheon-gu, covering an area of approximately 366㎡ with a total of 14 parking spaces.
This area has a high demand for parking due to the dense concentration of single-family and multi-family houses, and residents have experienced inconvenience as there were no public parking lots within a 300m radius.
To enhance residents' safety and prevent accidents such as sudden unintended acceleration, a 1m high and 23cm thick concrete retaining wall was installed along three parking spaces adjacent to the side roads.
Additionally, to reflect the characteristics of Geumha Village, a movable garden was created along the retaining wall of the parking lot in cooperation with the residents' council. The garden is expected to make the village environment more pleasant and help reduce carbon emissions.
The parking lot will operate under a resident-priority parking system and will also provide parking convenience for visitors participating in tours of the nearby ‘Geumcheon Eco Energy Center’ through a shared parking service.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “We are pleased to resolve the inconveniences faced by Doksan 1-dong residents due to parking difficulties and illegal parking issues,” adding, “In particular, as a specialized parking facility in an energy self-reliant village, it is expected to contribute not only to improving the residential environment but also to spreading carbon neutrality practices.”
The ‘Geumcheon Eco Energy Center’ was established in April as part of the Geumha Village urban regeneration New Deal project. It covers a total floor area of 477㎡ and consists of five above-ground floors. Serving as a hub for energy self-reliance, it operates resident-participatory programs and facilities for carbon neutrality and energy transition, playing a central role in community development and environmental education.
