Call for Fundamental Strengthening of Overall Business Competitiveness

Park Jung-won, Chairman of Doosan Group, emphasized on the 1st in his 2025 New Year's address that “all employees must adopt the attitude of ‘strengthening the present while preparing for the future.’”

Chairman Park noted that voices expecting a tougher year than last year are rising due to increased internal and external uncertainties, and he anticipates that the management environment characterized by the '3U' conditions?Unpredictable, Unstable, and Uncertain?will continue for a considerable period. He urged, “Let us start the year with a focus on stability and a mindset to respond swiftly when opportunities arise.”

Chairman Park stated, “To firmly protect our business, strengthening market dominance is crucial,” and added, “Since we have proven our technological and product competitiveness, let us lead the market fiercely with confidence.” He especially emphasized the need to accelerate and lead the market in ▲large nuclear power plants ▲small modular reactors (SMR) ▲hydrogen fuel cells ▲and electronic materials businesses amid the surge in AI-related demand and expanding global power markets.

He also said, “In an uncertain management environment, increasing profitability is a priority,” and urged efforts to fundamentally strengthen competitiveness across all business sectors, saying, “As confirmed in the gas turbine case, let us focus on enhancing fundamental competitiveness so that we can seize opportunities immediately when they come.”

Regarding AI, Chairman Park highlighted, “Considering the pace of technological advancement, how AI is utilized in all areas of future corporate activities will determine success or failure,” and stressed securing competitiveness in AI-related fields by stating, “We must gather all available capabilities to build Doosan’s unique AI ecosystem.”

Furthermore, on strengthening synergy among the group’s three major business pillars?‘Clean Energy,’ ‘Smart Machines,’ and ‘Semiconductors and Advanced Materials’?he requested that management take the lead, saying, “For collaboration that crosses company or division boundaries in related fields, active communication and new initiatives must be actively encouraged.”

In closing, Chairman Park reiterated the mindset for the New Year, saying, “Although market conditions are difficult at the moment, opportunities will surely come. With the confidence honed over more than 130 years of history, let us strengthen the present while preparing for the future.”
