Sunchon National University Achieves 88.2% Early Admission Registration Rate... Regular Admissions Begin on 31st

Up 13.9% Year-on-Year ... Highest Among Four-Year National Universities in Honam Region

Suncheon National University (President Lee Byungwoon) announced on the 30th that the early admission enrollment rate for the 2025 academic year reached 88.2%, marking a 13.9 percentage point increase compared to the previous year.

This figure represents a significant improvement over last year's early admission enrollment rate of 74.3%, recording the highest increase among four-year national universities in the Honam region. Despite the challenging situation of a sharp decline in prospective students, the university has secured a large number of outstanding freshmen, demonstrating its competitive edge in admissions.

Since being selected as the first university in the Gwangju-Jeonnam area for the Ministry of Education's 'Glocal University' project, Suncheon National University has driven up its enrollment rate through integrated recruitment focused on three specialized fields. Enrollment increased evenly across all specialized recruitment units, including Life Industry Science (88.59%), Social Science (92.08%), Humanities (76.67%), Arts and Physical Education (91.72%), and Engineering (88.54%).

Additionally, the university was selected for the 2024 'High School Education Contribution University Support Project,' and its admission process design and tailored information provision to reduce the college entrance burden for local students have had a positive effect.

In particular, Suncheon National University strengthened its connection with the local community by selecting new students through the highest proportion of regional talent admissions among national and public universities nationwide (687 out of 1,683 students, 40.8%).

Meanwhile, applications for the regular admission process, which will select a total of 226 students including those carried over from early admissions, will be accepted from December 31 to January 3. By recruitment group, 24 students will be selected for Group A and 202 for Group D, with cross-application between fields allowed.

The School of Lifelong Education and Future Convergence Department accepts applications regardless of participation in the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), and the newly established regional talent admissions for this year's regular recruitment (6 students in Pharmacy, 3 in Nursing) are targeted at graduates (or expected graduates) who have completed all coursework at high schools located in the Honam region.

Kang Heesoon, Dean of Admissions at Suncheon National University, stated, "With the second year of the Glocal University 30 project, a variety of educational innovation initiatives are being actively implemented, and interest and attention from prospective freshmen are rising significantly," adding, "We will provide full support to ensure that all new students at our university can grow as glocal talents."
