Masan Hoewon-gu Forest Agriculture Division and 6 Other Departments Selected as Outstanding Departments
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam awarded certificates of commendation to outstanding departments in the 2024 20 Million Trees Planting Project on the 31st.
The city evaluated the tree planting achievements carried out by district offices and townships throughout 2024, selecting six outstanding departments including the Forest and Agriculture Policy Division of Masanhwoin-gu. Certificates of commendation were presented to the outstanding departments and meritorious public officials to encourage their efforts.
The 20 Million Trees Planting Project is a campaign running from 2011 to 2028, planting one million trees annually in vacant lots, parks, and other areas to respond to climate change such as heatwaves and to create a premium green city in Changwon.
Jo Myung-rae, the 2nd Vice Mayor, stated, “The 20 Million Trees Planting Project is an important initiative for humanity to respond to climate change and achieve carbon neutrality. We hope for active participation from public officials and citizens alike to reach the goal of planting 20 million trees by 2028.”
