The Cultural Heritage Administration announced on the 31st that it has established the Special Classification System for the National Heritage Industry, developed to clearly define the scope and definition of the national heritage industry and to build reliable statistical data to support it, as of the 26th.
The "National Heritage Industry" refers to industries dealing with goods and services that preserve the historical, artistic, academic, and scenic values of national heritage and utilize them to create added value. This includes various activities such as planning, production, management, distribution, research, and education.
This special classification system was developed based on preliminary research and expert consultations conducted to systematically establish classification criteria for the national heritage industry.
Additionally, following the approval of the National Heritage Industry Survey as official national statistics (approval number 150004) on October 23, 2023, the establishment of this special classification was pursued in accordance with recommendations from the Statistics Korea.
