Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 31st that it will set up and operate a joint memorial altar to mourn the victims of the passenger plane accident that occurred at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do.

The memorial altar will be operated from 9 a.m. on the 31st until 9 p.m. on January 4, 2025, at the plaza in front of Gyeonggi Gwangju Station (Tourist Information Center).
Considering the national mourning period, Gwangju City canceled events such as the sunrise festival and instructed public institutions to fly flags at half-mast.
Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “We pray for the souls of those who tragically lost their lives and extend deep condolences and comfort to their families.”
