Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 31st that the Social Economy Support Center, the social enterprise ‘Hope Planting Tree Social Cooperative’ recycle brand ‘Sup Story’, and local social economy organizations are collaborating to carry out sharing activities through donations of used and surplus goods.

The ‘Hope Planting Tree Social Cooperative’ inspects used and surplus goods donated by citizens and companies and sells them at the recycle store ‘Sup Story’, with the sales proceeds used to support the employment and independence of people with developmental disabilities.

In this activity, the Social Economy Support Center has collected donated items worth about 1.5 million won, including clothing, hats, and daily necessities, in cooperation with about 20 companies in the area since early December, and delivered them to the ‘Hope Planting Tree Social Cooperative’.

The donated items are sold at the ‘Sup Story’ store, and the sales proceeds are used for projects that realize various social values such as ▲supporting the independence of people with developmental disabilities ▲environmental protection ▲support for vulnerable groups.

In addition, the Social Economy Support Center plans to establish donation boxes within the center to activate corporate donations and build a sustainable sharing ecosystem.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “This sharing activity is a virtuous cycle model created together by the local community, companies, and social economy organizations,” and added, “We will continue to actively support the realization of various social values through the revitalization of the social economy.”
