Applications Accepted Until the 14th of Next Month... 178 Million Won to Be Invested
Jeonju City, North Jeolla Province, announced on the 31st that it will publicly recruit small-scale air pollutant emission businesses in the Jeonju area to participate in the "IoT Installation Support Project for Small-Scale Businesses" until the 14th of next month.
The city plans to allocate a total budget of 178 million KRW next year to support up to 90% of the IoT installation costs.
The eligible businesses are those with wet facilities exempted from installing prevention equipment and existing type 4 and 5 air pollutant emission businesses. The city plans to prioritize support for businesses that met the selection criteria last year but were not selected due to budget shortages, followed by businesses with a larger number of emission outlets.
The city will support the installation of IoT measurement devices connected to one stack (emission outlet) per business, with a subsidy limit of up to 3.6 million KRW per location.
However, IoT devices installed in public institutions and facilities, as well as those installed in emission and prevention facilities that are closed, not operating, or not in use, are excluded from the support.
Companies wishing to participate can refer to the announcement posted on the Jeonju City Hall website and apply in person or by mail to the Environmental Sanitation and Industrial Complex Air Management Team.
In this regard, "IoT (Internet of Things)" refers to intelligent technology that connects all objects based on the internet to share information mutually. Regulatory authorities can use IoT to monitor air pollutant emission and prevention facilities in real time.
It can also be used to check the status of prevention facilities and identify replacement cycles for consumables, as this information is shared with the relevant businesses.
For small-scale air pollutant emission businesses (types 4 and 5), the "Enforcement Decree of the Clean Air Conservation Act" was amended on May 3, 2022, making it mandatory to attach IoT devices to verify proper operation of emission and prevention facilities.
Even for type 4 and 5 air pollutant emission businesses that began operation before the enforcement of the law, it is mandatory to install IoT devices by June 30 of next year.
A city official stated, "As the grace period for mandatory IoT installation for existing type 4 and 5 air pollutant emission businesses ends on June 30 next year, we hope for active participation from the relevant companies."
