On December 6, the Seoul Metropolitan Government held the ‘Public Institution Participatory Moa Town Public Management Project Selection Committee’ and selected 10 Moa Towns as target sites for the ‘Public Institution Participatory Moa Town’ project.

Starting in 2025, SH and LH will support the entire process of the project?from establishing the Moa Town management plan (or its revision) and forming the association to completion?for the 10 Moa Towns selected this time.

Accordingly, the Moa Town project, a long-cherished wish of the residents around 265 Eungbong-dong, is expected to be promoted quickly and stably under the leadership of public institutions.

The area around 265 Eungbong-dong is a region with severe building aging and a high proportion of semi-basement floors, making it highly vulnerable to flood damage and in great need of development. It was selected as a Moa Town target site in 2022 and has now been confirmed as a target site for the Public Institution Participatory Moa Town project.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the selected areas through the public contest can receive various benefits such as the possibility to expand the project area (20,000 to 40,000㎡), relaxation of the rental housing donation ratio (from 50% to 30%) due to zoning upgrades, low-interest loans for project costs, and project feasibility analysis.

Councilor Hwang Cheol-gyu said, “I have made special efforts, including multiple consultations with related departments and holding meetings, to promote the public redevelopment project, which has been a long-standing wish of the residents of Eungbong-dong. With the selection of the Public Institution Participatory Moa Town project, I believe that the Moa Town promotion in the area around 265 Eungbong-dong, which we have worked on together with the residents, can bear successful fruit.”

He also said, “I will continue to pay close attention and make efforts to ensure that the Moa Town project in the Eungbong-dong area of Seongdong-gu can be promoted quickly and stably.”
