All Basic Livelihood Security Recipients
Yangcheon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) will expand the scope of the ‘Free Brokerage Service for Low-Income Households,’ which supports real estate brokerage fees during lease contracts to help stabilize housing for economically vulnerable groups, from contracts under 75 million KRW to contracts under 100 million KRW starting from the new year.

The ‘Free Brokerage Service for Low-Income Households’ is a program that supports brokerage fees up to 300,000 KRW incurred during housing lease transactions for vulnerable groups. It has been promoted through a business agreement with the Yangcheon-gu branch of the Korea Association of Realtors.
In particular, amid the recent rise in housing rents and the accompanying increase in real estate brokerage fees, which have heightened economic difficulties for low-income households, the district expanded the support target last year from only livelihood and medical benefit recipients to all basic livelihood security recipients (housing, livelihood, medical, and education benefits). Starting from the new year, the upper limit of the support amount will also be expanded to contracts under 100 million KRW to provide stronger support for socially vulnerable groups.
Accordingly, basic livelihood security recipients residing in Yangcheon-gu will be able to receive brokerage fee support of up to 300,000 KRW for lease contracts under 100 million KRW. Eligible residents wishing to apply should bring a copy of the lease contract, brokerage fee receipt, certificate of recipient status, a copy of their bankbook, and a resident registration certificate to the local community service center when reporting their move-in.
The district has significantly contributed to housing stability by expanding the support target to all basic livelihood security recipients and actively guiding the free brokerage service based on move-in report status, providing over 34 million KRW to a total of 254 households over the past three years. Next year, the district plans to individually notify recipients based on the move-in report status of basic livelihood security recipients to ensure that all eligible individuals receive brokerage fee support benefits without omission.
Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, “Since housing is the most fundamental and important element of life, we will strive to discover eligible recipients actively to ensure no one is left out,” and added, “We will continue to work hard to establish detailed support measures so that residents can live their daily lives in a stable housing environment.”
