Mapo-gu Maintains Street Posts... Enhancing Urban Aesthetics, Safety, and Budget Savings

Complete Survey of 3,076 Road Markers in the Area for Streetscape Improvement
Budget Savings of 79.53 Million KRW by Partial Repairs Instead of Full Replacement for Functionally Sound Road Markers

Mapo-gu Maintains Street Posts... Enhancing Urban Aesthetics, Safety, and Budget Savings Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, is inspecting the road facilities site with officials.

Mapo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Gang-su) conducted a comprehensive survey of bollards installed to prevent unauthorized vehicle entry and ensure pedestrian safety, and carried out a thorough maintenance of damaged facilities.

Bollards are important facilities that guarantee safe pedestrian passage while blocking vehicle intrusion. This survey focused on repairing damaged or aging bollards to maintain their functionality and improve the streetscape environment.

Through this survey, the district confirmed that out of a total of 3,076 bollards, 597 were damaged and were immediately repaired.

In particular, this maintenance introduced a budget efficiency plan that differs from previous methods.

Previously, the main approach was to completely replace damaged bollards, but this year, in line with the 8th term district administration philosophy of ‘improving wrong practices,’ 494 bollards with only minor exterior damage but no significant functional issues were replaced by manufacturing and installing top covers.

This saved approximately 79.53 million KRW in budget, realizing efficient resource management.

Through this maintenance, the district not only achieved securing pedestrian safety and improving urban aesthetics but also established an efficient budget management method.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “We will continue to do our best to enhance the efficiency of facility maintenance through continuous inspections and systematic management, and to provide residents with a safer and more pleasant walking environment.”
