Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) announced on the 30th that all events promoted by the district during the national mourning period until the 4th of next month will be canceled in relation to the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster that occurred at Muan International Airport.
Accordingly, the opening ceremony of Naebalsan Welfare Center scheduled for the 30th and the Gaehwasan Sunrise Event planned for January 1st next year will also not be held.
The district will fly flags at half-mast during the national mourning period, and all public officials are required to wear mourning ribbons. In addition, to mourn the victims of the accident and facilitate condolences from residents, a joint memorial altar will be set up in front of Gangseo-gu Office and operated until the 4th of next month.
Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “We express our deep condolences and sympathy to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in this tragic accident,” and added, “We will actively cooperate and contribute to the national disaster situation.”
