The police investigating the December 3 emergency martial law incident requested the attendance of Jeong Jin-seok, Chief of Staff to the President, but Jeong did not appear.
The Special Investigation Unit of the National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters stated on the 30th, "Jeong has not appeared to date."
Earlier, on the 27th, Jeong submitted a letter of non-attendance to the National Assembly's Steering Committee stating that he could not attend the scheduled current affairs inquiry on the 30th due to being notified to appear as a defendant.
On the same day, Shin Won-sik, Director of the National Security Office, also announced that he would not attend the Steering Committee's current affairs inquiry, citing that he had been notified to appear as a witness by investigative authorities.
However, it is known that Shin received the attendance request from the prosecution.
