The city of Guri, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) announced on the 30th that there are some points difficult to accept regarding the decision by the National Geographic Information Institute on November 12 to name the 33rd Han River crossing bridge as Godeok-Topyeong Bridge. Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun stated, "Through consultations with various expert institutions, we explored multiple options for naming the Guri Bridge, but decided to focus on creating a Han River landmark together with the Topyeong 2 District, excluding lawsuits and other disputes."

Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri said, "We mobilized all administrative resources to enforce the name Guri Bridge until the very end, but since we did not achieve a favorable result, I apologize to the 200,000 citizens," and added, "I thank the citizens who showed effort and passion until the end."

Mayor Baek emphasized, "Anyone can see that 87% of the bridge lies within Guri's administrative district, and considering fairness between the two local governments, the name Guri Bridge is natural. However, now we will put aside the naming conflict and promote the Han River landmark harmonizing the (abbreviated) Topyeong Bridge and the Guri Topyeong 2 Public Housing District, so that it can be established in the hearts of citizens with pride equivalent to that of the Guri Bridge."

Meanwhile, the opening of the Sejong-Pocheon Expressway section from Guri to Anseong, including the Topyeong Bridge, is scheduled for 0:00 on January 1, 2025.

The Anseong-Guri Expressway is a six-lane road with a total length of 72.2 km from the Nam Anseong Junction in Anseong City to the Nam Guri Interchange in Guri City, with a total project cost of 7.4367 trillion KRW.

The driving distance from Anseong City (Nam Anseong Junction) to Topyeong-dong, Guri City (Nam Guri Interchange) is expected to decrease by approximately 19.8 km (from 92 km to 72.2 km), and travel time is expected to be reduced by about 49 minutes (from 88 minutes to 39 minutes).
