Namyangju City implemented systematic policies to address the low birthrate issue, ranging from pregnancy preparation projects actively utilizing national and provincial subsidies to city-led childbirth-related support projects. Through this, it reduced the economic burden on families expecting pregnancy and childbirth and provided a stable environment.

In the pregnancy preparation stage, the city supported fertility testing fees through the ‘Pre-pregnancy Health Management Support Project’ and increased support for infertility treatment costs for infertile couples to improve pregnancy success rates.

In particular, the ‘Infertile Couples Treatment Cost Support’ was significantly expanded by relaxing income criteria and increasing the number of supported treatment sessions. Additionally, detailed support measures such as assisted reproductive technology support using frozen eggs and support for discontinuation of infertility treatments helped alleviate the economic burden on infertile couples.

For childbirth families, postpartum care expenses and childbirth congratulatory money, which are pledges of the 8th local government administration, were provided, and health management services for mothers and newborns helped ensure stable recovery after childbirth.

Namyangju City plans to continue supporting citizens to prepare for pregnancy and childbirth more stably in 2025 and develop Namyangju City into a childbirth-friendly city.

Jung Tae-sik, Director of Namyangju Public Health Center, said, “Namyangju City will be a reliable supporter for all families preparing for pregnancy and childbirth,” and added, “We will continue to expand support so that citizens can experience pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting more comfortably and happily.”
