"Emphasis on Establishing Public Service Discipline During National Mourning Period"
Kim Moon-soo, Minister of Employment and Labor, said on the 30th, "I am deeply saddened by the Jeju Air passenger plane accident" and "I pray for the souls of the victims who lost their lives and offer my deepest condolences to their bereaved families."
Minister Kim made these remarks before the morning meeting of department heads and directors. At this meeting, he expressed deep condolences with a moment of silence for former officials of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the victims of this accident. Afterwards, he received a report on the accident site situation from the Gwangju Regional Office Chief and Mokpo Branch Chief who participated via video conference.
Minister Kim emphasized that accident recovery is the top priority, saying, "While actively cooperating with related agencies in accident recovery, as the ministry responsible for workers' lives and safety, ensure that there is no negligence in supporting industrial accident compensation and trauma counseling and treatment for affected workers and their families."
He also stressed, "During the national mourning period, all employees of the Ministry of Employment and Labor must thoroughly establish public service discipline to avoid causing concern to the public," and "As public officials, they must faithfully perform their assigned duties."
