Until the 8th of next month
The prosecution investigating the December 3 emergency martial law incident has extended the detention period for Police Commissioner Jo Ji-ho and Seoul Police Commissioner Kim Bong-sik.
According to the legal community on the 30th, the Prosecution's Special Investigation Headquarters for Emergency Martial Law (headed by Park Se-hyun, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office) applied for an extension of the detention period for Commissioners Jo and Kim and received approval from the court.
Accordingly, their detention period, which was until the previous day, has been extended until the 8th of next month.
They are accused of actively participating by meeting President Yoon Seok-yeol at the presidential residence in Jongno-gu, Seoul, around 7 p.m. on the 3rd, before the declaration of martial law, receiving documents related to martial law in advance, and issuing orders to restrict access to the National Assembly after the declaration.
