This volunteer activity was organized to practice the value of sharing by providing warm meals to local senior citizens. On the 28th, 20 LOPE members served food to about 300 seniors who visited the free meal center and conveyed wishes for their health. The seniors expressed gratitude for the warm meals and the sincere greetings from the members. Even after the meal time ended, LOPE members carried out cleanup tasks such as collecting dishes and washing them.
The Lotte Scholarship Student Council LOPE is a compound word of 'LOTTE' and 'HOPE,' symbolizing a hopeful link connecting scholarship students and society. Established in 2019, LOPE currently has 631 members. It plans various social contribution activities and networking events. Major events held this year include making DIY gingerbread houses with local children's centers, helping out at Seoul farms, and meetings with senior students.
The Hope Scholarship, which benefits the members of LOPE, is the flagship scholarship program of the Lotte Scholarship Foundation that started in 1983. The program aims to support university students in financial need with living expenses scholarships and help them grow into responsible members of society who can give back to the community.
Currently, new scholarship students are being selected from 13 universities (Konkuk University, Kyung Hee University, Korea University, Dongguk University, Sogang University, Seoul National University, University of Seoul, Sungkyunkwan University, Yonsei University, Ewha Womans University, Chung-Ang University, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Hanyang University). Hope Scholarship recipients receive 4 million KRW per semester as academic assistance until graduation. Selected scholarship students must complete more than 120 hours of volunteer work within one year to be eligible to receive the scholarship.
