During the 8th term of the Gwangju city administration, the city has achieved remarkable results in various evaluations organized by central government ministries and agencies this year, earning recognition for its outstanding administrative capabilities across all areas of municipal governance.

According to the city on the 30th, Gwangju received a total of 63 institutional awards this year in various fields such as joint government evaluations, employment, and welfare.

It is analyzed that the commitment of all public officials, led by Mayor Kang Gijung, to "put citizens' happiness first" led to the removal of barriers between departments and active collaboration, resulting in tangible outcomes that citizens could directly experience. The introduction of various communication systems such as the "Policy Evaluation Expo," where citizens participate in the entire process from policy selection to evaluation, "Policy Picnic," and the online citizen platform "Gwangju ON," which reflect citizens' opinions in policymaking, also had a positive impact.

In particular, "Gwangju-daum Integrated Care," which is considered the epitome of care democracy in Korea, was recognized for innovating the selective, application-based care system into a universal, integrated care system, and received the Presidential Award at the "Government Innovation King of Kings Contest" hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

Efforts within the administration to provide trustworthy governance to citizens have also borne fruit. Last April, Gwangju was selected as an excellent institution for the third consecutive year in the "Joint Government Evaluation" by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, which assesses the performance of major national policies among 17 cities and provinces, securing a special grant of 707 million won. In May, Gwangju received the highest grade in both the achievement of mayoral pledges and resident communication in the "Evaluation of Fulfillment of Provincial Governor's Pledges and Information Disclosure" organized by the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters, ultimately earning the top overall grade (SA).

Mayor Kang Gijung stated, "The excellent results Gwangju has achieved in various evaluations are the outcome of all public officials actively pursuing administration with hope and determination, prioritizing citizens' happiness." He added, "As the driving force and pride of Korea, we will continue to implement diverse policies for the development of Gwangju and the improvement of citizens' quality of life. We will keep gathering wisdom with citizens to provide excellent municipal governance."
