The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and The New York Times (NYT) reported the occurrence of the accident, casualties, and presumed causes as top online news on the 28th (local time).

CNN, which delivered the news as a breaking update, introduced the aircraft involved as a Boeing 737-800 model from the American company Boeing, and anticipated that personnel from Boeing headquarters in Chicago, USA, might be dispatched to Korea to investigate the cause of the accident. Other American media also reported that the aircraft involved was from the Boeing 737 series.

The Boeing 737 series aircraft have recently caused issues due to a series of accidents in the United States. Most of these accidents involved the Boeing 737 Max model, but the Boeing 737-800 model has also caused problems this year.

On January 5th, Alaska Airlines Flight 1282, a Boeing 737 Max 9 passenger plane that took off from Portland International Airport in Oregon, made an emergency landing after part of a window and wall were torn off while flying at about 5,000 meters altitude. According to the preliminary investigation by the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) into this accident, which resulted in several minor injuries, it was found that four bolts securing the door were missing during the aircraft assembly.

Later, on March 6th, smoke was detected in the cabin of an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-800 passenger plane heading to Phoenix, causing the plane to return to Portland Airport. This aircraft is the same model as the one involved in the recent Muan Airport accident. Additionally, on March 8th, at Houston International Airport in Texas, a United Airlines Boeing 737 Max 8 experienced an accident where it veered off the paved runway while taxiing after landing.
