Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold a hopeful sunrise event at 7:30 a.m. on January 1st next year at Samsung Sunrise Park (82 Samsung-dong) to welcome the New Year.
Samsung Sunrise Park is considered the best sunrise viewing spot, offering a panoramic view of the Han River, Cheongdam Bridge, Lotte Tower, Jamsil Sports Complex, and other landmarks of Seoul along with the sunrise.
The event, starting with the sound of a buk drum, will have participants shout a sunrise countdown timed with the expected sunrise. A sunrise performance featuring a sun-shaped sculpture rising into the sky will symbolize hopes for the New Year. Following this, there will be New Year’s greetings from attending guests, a calligraphy performance, and a popera concert to deliver an emotional start to the year.
Side events include a photo zone where attendees can create memories with loved ones and an event where New Year wishes or family mottos are written in calligraphy. Additionally, a ‘Tteokguk Sharing Event’ will be held from 8 a.m. at Cheongdam Street Park, hosted by the Gangnam Dining CEO Course Alumni Association.
District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong stated, “2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of Gangnam-gu, a meaningful year, and I hope it will be a year of leap forward as Gangnam-gu creates a new future.” He added, “I wish all residents a happy New Year where all your wishes come true.”
