Songpa-gu '2024 Resident Survey'... Core Project Satisfaction 88.4%, Smooth District Administration
Residents Feel Achievements in 'Songpadaero Luxury Street Development' and 'Expansion of Culture and Arts Infrastructure'
Best Living Condition 'Culture and Leisure Life'... Up 15.8p from Last Year, Especially High Among 20s
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced on the 29th that the results of the ‘2024 Resident Opinion Survey’ showed high resident satisfaction with the ‘Creation of Songpa-daero Luxury Street’ and the ‘Expansion of Cultural, Arts, and Tourism Infrastructure.’
The survey was conducted from November 15 to 24 with 1,009 residents through one-on-one interviews. It was carried out to understand the overall demand for district administration in the third year of the 8th elected term and to establish policies that residents can feel directly.
The overall satisfaction with the core projects was 88.4%. Among the eight core projects, ‘Creation of Songpa-daero Luxury Street’ and ‘Expansion of Cultural, Arts, and Tourism Infrastructure’ both had the highest satisfaction rate at 89.0% each.
The top-ranked excellent project contributing to district development was also ‘Creation of Songpa-daero Luxury Street’ (49.8%). Following this, among ten projects, were ‘Rapid Promotion of Redevelopment and Reconstruction’ (33.5%), ‘Development of a New City Brand’ (24.6%), and ‘Cultural and Arts Festivals’ (24.0%), in that order.
Regarding this, the district analyzed that the residents’ desire reflects hopes for Songpa-daero, the local central street, to develop into a walkable street full of sights and attractions in line with nearby changes.
Regarding the operation of the district government in the 8th elected term, 77.6% evaluated that “results are being achieved.” This is a 10.1 percentage point increase compared to 67.5% last year.
When asked about achievements by sector, residents showed the greatest response to ‘Culture and Arts’ (33.8%). This was twice as high as the second-ranked ‘Education and Childcare’ sector at 16.1%.
The district interpreted that the various expansions of cultural and arts infrastructure centered around Seokchon Lake this year?such as the opening of ‘The Gallery Hosu,’ major repairs of ‘Seoul Nori Madang,’ and the hosting of Luminarie?resonated with residents.
The achievements in cultural and arts projects also had a positive impact on living conditions. When asked about living conditions in Songpa-gu, 89.7% responded “It is good to live,” and 53.9% cited ‘Culture and Leisure Activities’ as the reason for satisfaction. This figure increased by 15.8 percentage points compared to the previous year and was especially high among younger residents in their 20s.
The remaining challenges for the district government in the 8th elected term were the economy and jobs. Residents wanted the ‘Economy and Jobs’ (27.8%) sector projects to be prioritized and hoped for a ‘prosperous city where housing, jobs, economy, and nature harmonize’ (26.9%).
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “Thanks to the residents’ interest and support for Songpa district administration, we have achieved meaningful results,” and added, “We will actively reflect the results of this survey in next year’s district administration to complete the image of ‘Songpa, a luxury city that is good to live in.’”
