Gwanak-gu Supports 2 Million KRW for Artterior Improvement to Revitalize Local Economy

Support of 2 Million KRW for Interior and Exterior Environment and Design Improvement for 250 Small Business Stores

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will expedite the implementation of the ‘Gwanak-style Artterior Project’ within this year to support the unstable local economic recovery following the National Assembly’s approval of the presidential impeachment motion.

Artterior is a compound word of Art and Interior, referring to a project that supports customized improvements by incorporating design elements into the interior and exterior spaces of small business owners’ stores.

The ‘Gwanak-style Artterior Project’ is highly preferred, with a satisfaction rate of 90% among small business owners, and has supported a total of 2,078 small business stores since 2019. Through this, small business owners facing management difficulties due to natural disasters and economic downturns have been able to revitalize their store atmospheres, becoming a symbol of hope.

The district plans to support a total of 250 small business owners next year, and to revitalize the local economy amid the recent emergency situation, it will early recruit about 130 stores that were not selected in the first half of this year and about 120 stores newly wishing to participate.

In particular, to expand the scale of support, all previous Artterior projects, which focused on design, will be unified into general environmental improvements, expanding areas with high demand and satisfaction among small business owners, such as signage, canopies, and window films.

Additionally, clear standards for defect repairs on improved facilities will be established, and aftercare support will be provided for one year after the project’s completion.

The newly recruited targets this time are about 120 small business store-type shops in Gwanak-gu with fewer than five regular employees, wishing to improve the interior and exterior design and environment (stores where customers visit to purchase goods and services).

The support amount per store is up to 2 million KRW, and entertainment bars, franchises, chains, and stores participating in the same or similar projects are excluded from support.

The application period is from December 30 to January 10 of next year, and applications can be submitted by visiting the 4th floor of Gwanak-gu Office’s Local Commercial Activation Division or the relevant neighborhood community center.

The approximately 130 stores not selected in the first half of this year will be supported through an individual verification process without a separate application procedure.

For more details, check the announcement on the Gwanak-gu Office website (News & Notices → Public Announcements) or contact the Local Commercial Activation Division of Gwanak-gu Office by phone.

Furthermore, to respond to the domestic economic downturn, the district will also expedite support projects in the first half of next year. It plans to expand the Small and Medium Business Development Fund loans early to reduce interest burdens on self-employed individuals and promptly issue Gwanak Love Gift Certificates and exclusive coupons for the public delivery app (Ttaenggyeoyo).

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “I hope the early implementation of the Artterior project will help alleviate the management instability of small business owners caused by the recent emergency situation, and we will do our best to swiftly carry out various planned support projects to stabilize people’s livelihoods.”
