Highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) has been confirmed at a layer farm in Jincheon-gun, Chungbuk.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (AI) announced on the 28th that antigen was detected at a layer farm in Jincheon-gun, Chungbuk, and through detailed testing, it was confirmed to be highly pathogenic (H5N1 type).
With this, the total number of highly pathogenic AI cases at poultry farms nationwide during this winter season has increased to 18.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters has deployed an initial response team to this farm according to the emergency standard operating procedures (SOP), restricting access and conducting an epidemiological investigation. Approximately 16,000 chickens raised at the farm will be culled.
Additionally, to prevent the spread of AI, a temporary movement ban order has been issued until 0:00 on the 29th for layer farms and livestock facilities within Chungbuk.
