At Rally, Effigy of Yoon Seok-yeol and Han Duck-soo Appears... "Shamanism with Shamanism"

Appeared at Gyeongbokgung Rally on the 26th... Trending on SNS

On the 27th, as the motion to impeach Acting President and Prime Minister Han Deok-su passed the National Assembly, a ‘curse doll’ of President Yoon and Acting President Han appeared at a rally calling for Han's impeachment, drawing attention.

On the 26th, a netizen A revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that they participated in the ‘Emergency Action for the Resignation of Han Deok-su, the Constitutional Destroyer Extending the Rebellion’ held at Exit 4 of Gyeongbokgung Station in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

He informed netizens of the rally location as “in front of Exit 4 of Gyeongbokgung Station” and attached a photo. The photo showed A holding a curse doll made of straw sandals, used to curse the opponent, at the rally site.

The curse doll had photos of President Yoon and Acting President Han’s faces attached. Both dolls had nails hammered into the center of their chests, and the President Yoon doll was tied with a traditional Korean rope (oratjul).

The post attracted great attention, being shared 6,700 times and viewed 230,000 times within a day. Netizens responded with comments such as “I would buy it if mass-produced” and “Responding to superstition with superstition.” Some also said, “Attaching people’s faces like that seems a bit too much.”

However, A clarified, “I am not the owner or maker of the dolls.”

Earlier, on the 27th, the impeachment motion against Acting President Han, led by the opposition party, passed the plenary session of the National Assembly. It was finally approved with 192 votes in favor and zero against out of 192 members.

Accordingly, Han’s duties were immediately suspended, and Choi Sang-mok, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, took on the roles of Acting President and Acting Prime Minister, marking an unprecedented situation in constitutional history.

In response, on the 28th, the People Power Party stated, “The impeachment of the Acting President is null and void, and we strongly condemn the Democratic Party’s attempt to collapse the government,” adding, “The People Power Party has filed a ‘jurisdictional dispute trial’ and a ‘suspension of effect injunction’ with the Constitutional Court against the null and hasty impeachment.”
