"North Korean Troops Treated as Consumables"
"Strongly Brainwashed... Choosing Suicide Over Surrender"
It has been reported that more than 1,000 North Korean soldiers were casualties last week in Kursk, Russia. The White House stated that they are even choosing suicide over surrendering and becoming prisoners of war.
On the 27th (local time), the White House announced that over 1,000 North Korean soldiers suffered casualties last week in Kursk, Russia.
John Kirby, White House National Security Council (NSC) National Security Communications Coordinator, said in an online briefing that “currently, North Korean troops are launching large-scale dismounted attacks against Ukrainian forces in Kursk,” adding, “this kind of human wave tactic does not seem very effective and appears to have caused massive casualties among North Korean troops.”
He continued, “Russian and North Korean commanders are treating these troops as expendable and are ordering hopeless attacks against Ukrainian forces.”
However, the figures Kirby revealed on that day were compiled over the past 7 to 8 days, so the actual number of casualties may be higher.
Kirby pointed out, “According to reports, North Korean soldiers appear to be strongly indoctrinated and continue reckless attacks.” He also mentioned reports that, fearing retaliation against their families remaining in North Korea, they are choosing to take their own lives rather than surrender.
Additionally, he announced that U.S. President Joe Biden is expected to approve another security assistance package for Ukraine, including air defense systems.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account on the 23rd that North Korean casualties have already exceeded 3,000.
The Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff announced on the same day through a press release that North Korean casualties were about 1,100. The National Intelligence Service also confirmed the death of the first North Korean prisoner of war captured by Ukrainian forces.
The National Intelligence Service stated on the 27th, “We confirmed through allied intelligence agencies that one North Korean soldier captured on the 26th died recently due to severe injuries.”
