Zelensky "Several Wounded North Korean Soldiers Captured Alive Then Died"... Urges China's Role
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on the 27th (local time) that several injured North Korean soldiers were captured by Ukrainian forces and later died.
In a video address posted on social media that evening, President Zelensky said, "There was a report today regarding several North Korean soldiers," adding, "Those captured by our forces were severely wounded and could not be revived."
President Zelensky stated, "The losses among North Korean soldiers are very significant," and criticized, "Russia and North Korea have no interest in ensuring the survival of these soldiers. The Russian military is pushing them to the battlefield with minimal protective measures."
Earlier, Ukrainian media reported that a Ukrainian special forces unit captured one North Korean soldier during an operation in Kursk, Russia, and released a photo of the soldier. It is understood that this soldier died a day after being captured due to worsening injuries.
President Zelensky also claimed that executions are being carried out to prevent North Korean soldiers from surrendering.
He said, "All kinds of measures are being taken to prevent us from capturing them," adding, "There are even cases where their own soldiers are executed to stop them from surrendering."
South Korean and U.S. authorities estimate that North Korean forces suffered over 1,000 casualties in Kursk last week alone.
