29 Domestic and International Awards Including LACP Awards Grand Prize

Busan Port Authority (BPA)'s ESG management activities carried out throughout 2024 to promote the sustainable development of the port logistics industry, contribute to the local community, and strengthen the competitiveness of Busan Port received high evaluations not only domestically but also internationally.

In 2024, BPA received a total of 29 awards and certifications, the highest ever, including 1 Presidential Citation, 1 award from the United States LACP (League of American Communications Professionals), the world's most prestigious marketing organization, 1 Prime Minister's Citation, 6 Ministerial-level Citations, and 10 government ministry certifications.

Recognized for strengthening the competitiveness and co-growth achievements of small and medium-sized enterprises related to the port, BPA became the first port authority to receive a Presidential Citation. It also secured the 'Highest Grade' for two consecutive years in the co-growth evaluation for public institutions, establishing itself as a leading institution in co-growth and win-win cooperation.

Additionally, BPA was recognized internationally for its ESG management achievements by winning the grand prize with the highest global score at the '2024 Spotlight Awards' hosted by the U.S. LACP, which evaluates sustainability reports of organizations and companies worldwide.

As the first public institution to provide easy-to-understand job postings and actively create jobs for persons with severe disabilities by discovering suitable positions, BPA received the Prime Minister's Citation for its efforts in job creation for the disabled.

Furthermore, BPA was selected as the Best Innovation Institution at the 2024 Port Logistics Industry Innovation Competition hosted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries by successfully demonstrating LNG and methanol bunkering for the first time at a domestic port, contributing to the establishment of a sustainable port system based on eco-friendly fuels.

Through efforts to enhance financial soundness, BPA achieved 20 consecutive years of profitable management and 18 consecutive years of dividend payments, earning recognition as an excellent government dividend institution from the Ministry of Economy and Finance and receiving a Ministerial Citation.

In addition, BPA earned various awards across key areas of work, including commendations for excellence in gender employment equality, achieving the highest grade for three consecutive years in disaster response safety training in Korea, awards for excellence in research and development investment recommendations, commendations for promoting gender equality, and recognition for activating educational donations.

BPA President Kang Jun-seok stated, “These achievements are thanks not only to BPA employees but also to the entire Busan Port ecosystem and local community working together and collaborating. We will continue to enhance the competitiveness of Busan Port based on ESG management in 2025 and strive to contribute to the national economy and regional development.”
