Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 27th that it held the '2024 Pocheon City New Middle-aged Life University Graduation Ceremony and Cinema Concert' at the Pocheon Business Center Convention Hall on the 26th.

The graduation ceremony was organized to share the achievements of the ‘Pocheon City New Middle-aged Life University’ and to promote opportunities for learning and challenges.
The ‘Pocheon City New Middle-aged Life University’ is a project aimed at enhancing the expertise and improving the quality of life of citizens aged 40 to 64, operating professional courses, liberal arts courses, and community activities.
This year, two capacity-building professional courses were conducted: the Smart Growth Expert Training Course and the Pet Food Stylist Certification Course. In the humanities course ‘New Middle-aged Plus Middle-aged FUN: Golden Playground,’ three life planning humanities courses were offered: ‘FUN Imagination Wings 12 Days, PHONE & MOVIE,’ ‘FUN Chef Samsik,’ and ‘New Middle-aged Speech Up.’
Through the capacity-building professional courses, 31 students completed the education and obtained certifications, and through the life planning humanities courses, 69 students completed the education.
Following the graduation ceremony, the cinema concert featured the Banwol Opera Troupe, Electone performers Kim Eun-jung and Kim Ha-yan, soprano Kim Kyung-hee, baritone Oh Se-won, and tenor Lim Hong-jae. They performed familiar movie music such as ‘Exodus’ from the film Escape to Glory, ‘Parla piu piano’ from The Godfather, and ‘Lascia ch’io pianga’ from Farinelli.
A Pocheon City official said, “We hope that through the ‘Pocheon City New Middle-aged Life University,’ middle-aged citizens gain courage for new learning and challenges and discover new values in life,” adding, “We plan to continuously provide diverse programs and activities so that the middle-aged generation can gain a new life and grow through lifelong learning.”
