Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 27th that it has completed the replacement and installation of outdated automated external defibrillators (AEDs) installed at nine locations, including Baekseok-eup, Eunhyeon-myeon, Nam-myeon, Gwangjeok-myeon, Jangheung-myeon, Hoicheon 1-dong to 3-dong, and Okjeong 1-dong administrative welfare centers.
An "automated external defibrillator" is an emergency device necessary for appropriate and rapid response in emergency situations requiring cardiopulmonary resuscitation, such as the occurrence of acute cardiac arrest patients.
This project was prepared to prevent malfunction accidents caused by the aging of existing installed AEDs and to enable prompt response in case of emergencies.
Currently, a total of 274 AEDs are installed at 185 locations, including mandatory institutions and multi-use facilities within the jurisdiction, with monthly self-inspections by the institutions and an annual inspection by the public health center.
A Yangju City official stated, “We will continue to promote the replacement and installation project of outdated AEDs in public institutions to protect the precious lives and health of citizens in emergencies such as cardiac arrest.”
