Yangsan-si Supports Safe Operation Insurance for Electric Assistive Devices for Disabled and Elderly

Yangsan City, Gyeongnam (Mayor Na Dong-yeon) will support the subscription to safety driving insurance for people with disabilities and the elderly using electric assistive devices starting January 1.

Yangsan-si Supports Safe Operation Insurance for Electric Assistive Devices for Disabled and Elderly Electric Mobility Aid Safe Operation Insurance Guide.

This insurance is a policy that supports people with disabilities and the elderly to use electric wheelchairs and electric scooters with peace of mind, providing coverage for third-party bodily injury and property damage liability up to a limit of 20 million KRW during the operation of electric assistive devices.

Eligible recipients are registered people with disabilities and elderly individuals aged 65 or older who are registered residents of Yangsan City and use electric assistive devices (electric wheelchairs and electric scooters). They are automatically enrolled without a separate subscription process and the insurance is automatically terminated upon moving to another region.

Through this safety insurance subscription, it is expected to reduce the financial burden on people with disabilities and the elderly in case of accidents during the operation of electric assistive devices, and to promote a culture of consideration for users by providing prompt and appropriate compensation to citizens affected by electric assistive device accidents, enabling them to live their daily lives more safely.

A Yangsan City official stated, “As the use of electric assistive devices gradually expands, policy support to ensure the safety of citizens using them is necessary,” and added, “This safety driving insurance support will play an important role in strengthening the mobility rights of people with disabilities and the elderly,” emphasizing the need for continuous social interest and support for the policy.
