Focusing on Developing New Markets in India and Central Asia
"Promoting the Value of the Hwayo Brand in the Global Market"
Hwayo announced on the 27th that it has won the 'K-Food+ Export Tower' Leap Award, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
The K-Food+ Export Tower is an awards event organized by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) to encourage exports and recognize companies that have contributed to expanding exports in agricultural products and related upstream and downstream industries. Hwayo received the 'Leap Award' in recognition of its high export growth rate compared to the previous year, potential, and active efforts to expand exports.
Since its establishment as a corporation in 2003, Hwayo began exporting simultaneously with the domestic launch of its first product in 2005. Currently, Hwayo17, Hwayo25, Hwayo41, Hwayo53, and Hwayo X.Premium, which are being exported, are premium distilled soju representing Korea, each developed targeting foreign renowned liquors such as sake, shochu, vodka, baijiu, and whiskey. From the beginning, Hwayo has steadily expanded its exports on the global stage, currently exporting to a total of 27 countries including the United States, Canada, France, Southeast Asia, and Australia.
In particular, Hwayo X.Premium is the first pure Korean whiskey made from rice, which began exporting to Europe in June 2020. It has caused a domestic shortage and continues to sell out in several countries including France, Malaysia, Australia, and New Zealand.
A Hwayo representative stated, "In 2025, in addition to the rapidly growing major export markets such as North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, we will also focus on pioneering new markets such as India and Central Asia," adding, "We will strive not only to export products but also to widely promote Hwayo's brand value as a premium distilled soju representing the Republic of Korea in the global market."
