Promotion of Domestic Measures Including Bold Early Execution and Travel Revitalization
Kwon Seong-dong, Acting Party Leader and Floor Leader of the People Power Party, on the 27th mentioned the possibility of dialogue and negotiation with the opposition party and requested the withdrawal of the impeachment vote against Acting President Han Deok-su.
At the 'Domestic Economy Revitalization Civil-Military Political Council' held at the National Assembly that day, Acting Leader Kwon said, "I appeal to the opposition party," and added, "Please withdraw the impeachment of Acting President Han, which is exacerbating the contraction of the domestic economy and financial market instability, even now." He stated, "The People Power Party will keep the door open for all dialogues and negotiations aimed at stabilizing people's livelihoods."
He said, "The political situation is very chaotic," and added, "It is truly regrettable and I am deeply sorry to the people that politics, which should provide stability and hope to the people, is instead fueling national confusion." He continued, "Although this is an unprecedented crisis, there must be no wavering in state affairs," and said, "At times like this, public officials should demonstrate proactive leadership to instill trust in the people and the market from their respective positions."
Acting Leader Kwon said, "In addition to recent domestic political instability, external economic uncertainties are also increasing," and added, "In such circumstances, bold and swift policy implementation is necessary to promptly revitalize the domestic economy and stabilize people's livelihoods." He further stated, "Next year's budget execution should focus resources intensively on stabilizing the low-income economy through unprecedented early execution that exceeds market expectations," and said, "It is necessary to conduct an aggressive travel campaign to promote domestic tourism and the influx of foreign visitors."
Acting Leader Kwon also promised to strengthen support for small business owners. He said, "As consumer sentiment shrinks due to recent political turmoil, the suffering of self-employed individuals and small business owners is intensifying," and declared, "The government and ruling party will act as one team to prioritize stabilizing the political situation quickly and saving self-employed individuals and small business owners as the top national agenda."
