On Christmas Day, a teenage boy was arrested by the police after fatally stabbing a female peer and injuring himself.
The Sacheon Police Department in Gyeongnam announced on the 26th that they have apprehended and are investigating a teenage boy identified as A, who fatally stabbed a female peer.
According to the police, around 8:30 PM on the 25th, A allegedly attacked teenage girl B multiple times with a knife on a road in front of an apartment in Sacheon-eup, Sacheon-si.
B was found in cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately passed away around 10:40 PM that same night.
After the crime, A inflicted self-harm with the knife but was treated and then urgently arrested by the police at 12:12 AM on the 26th, the day after the incident.
The police have determined that A, who lives in a different area, met B for the first time that day through online platforms such as internet chat.
A, who was apprehended, has not made any statements other than admitting to the crime.
The police plan to investigate A’s motive and other details before applying for an arrest warrant.
