The event, held at the multipurpose gymnasium on the 3rd floor of Minrak National Sports Center (273 Minrak-ro), was attended by about 200 people, including local residents, Mayor Kim Dong-geun, City Council Chairman Kim Yeon-gyun, provincial and city council members, and heads of related organizations.
The Minrak National Sports Center was constructed with a total project cost of 24.9 billion KRW, starting in January 2018, with a total floor area of 4,983㎡, consisting of one basement floor and four above-ground floors.
The main facilities include ▲ basement level 1 swimming pool, shower rooms, and changing rooms ▲ 1st floor Childcare Support Center, hourly childcare room, Daom Playground ▲ 2nd floor Everyone's Playground, toy library, counseling rooms, and auditorium ▲ 3rd floor multipurpose gymnasium and Urban Corporation office ▲ 4th floor multipurpose room.
The Minrak National Sports Center signed a consignment contract with Uijeongbu Urban Corporation in June and began operations with a trial swimming pool opening on the 2nd.
Regarding the childcare support facilities located on the 1st and 2nd floors of the center, the Childcare Support Center has relocated and been operating since October 29, while the hourly childcare room, English Playground, and Daom Playground are scheduled to open next year.
Through organic cooperation between the centers, it is expected to function as a central facility combining sports and childcare.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun stated, “The Minrak National Sports Center is a public facility where everyone from children to adults can enjoy a healthy daily life with both sports and childcare,” adding, “It will greatly contribute to providing an environment where citizens can live healthily while raising their children with peace of mind.”
