Seoul National University Teacher Mentoring Winter Semester Cultural Experience Event Held... 87 Mentors and Mentees Participated
9 Program Booths Including Santa and Agricultural Products Challenge, Christmas Sachet Making, etc.
Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Junhee) held a cultural experience event called the ‘Early Christmas Farm Party’ where Seoul National University SAM Mentoring mentors and mentees participated together.
The Farm Party is a compound word of Farm and Party, referring to an event where urban residents enjoy rural culture and agricultural products.
Seoul National University SAM Mentoring is an educational project in Gwanak-gu jointly conducted by Gwanak-gu and the College of Education at Seoul National University. At this event, 33 mentors from Seoul National University and 54 mentees, elementary and middle school students, took a break from their studies to enjoy fresh agricultural products and various experiential activities.
The Farm Party was divided into three parts. The district operated nine program booths including ▲estimating the weight of agricultural products ▲making Christmas scented pouches ▲cookie workshop ▲photogenic challenge.
In particular, at each booth operated that day, mentors participated together with mentees, allowing them to form empathy and strengthen their bond.
Also, true to the name ‘Farm Party,’ participants enjoyed healthy food made from eco-friendly agricultural products, and at the end of the event, mentees expressed their gratitude to mentors through letters.
The Seoul National University SAM Mentoring project is a school-community cooperation project that started in 2006, with a total of 842 mentors and mentees participating in 2024. Seoul National University students serve as mentors, providing tailored academic guidance, career and college counseling, and cultural experience activities to students from 3rd grade elementary to 2nd grade high school within the community.
The 2025 winter vacation Seoul National University SAM Mentoring will be held from January 2 to February 14 next year. Gwanak-gu students who wish to participate in mentoring can register for classes on the SAM Mentoring website through their mentee institutions each semester.
District Mayor Park Junhee said, “I feel rewarded to be able to provide equal educational opportunities to youth through the excellent educational resources of Seoul National University and the passion of the mentors,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to provide various learning programs to local youth through cooperation with regional educational institutions, including Seoul National University SAM Mentoring.”
