Korea Expressway Corporation Extends Toll Discounts for Electric and Hydrogen Vehicles on Highways for 3 More Years

40% in 2025, 30% in 2026, 20% in 2027
Maximum discount rate applied when other discount programs are simultaneously met

Korea Expressway Corporation announced on the 26th that it will extend the toll discount system for electric and hydrogen vehicles until 2027.

Based on the entry time, vehicles entering by the end of this year will receive a 50% discount, 40% in 2025, 30% in 2026, and 20% in 2027. Vehicles that have already been receiving the electric and hydrogen vehicle discount can continue to use it without any additional procedures, while new vehicles wishing to receive the discount must register the electric and hydrogen vehicle discount code on their device.

If the requirements for other discount programs are met simultaneously, the highest discount rate will be applied. For example, electric and hydrogen commercial freight vehicles can receive the highest discount among the electric and hydrogen vehicle discount, commute discount, and freight vehicle nighttime discount. In this case, they must visit the service center to apply for the freight vehicle nighttime discount and register the electric and hydrogen commercial freight vehicle discount code on their Hi-Pass device. Applications will be accepted starting from the 28th of this month.

Also, 3-axle or smaller freight vehicles that want to receive the higher discount between the electric and hydrogen vehicle discount and the commute discount do not need to take any additional action if they are already receiving the electric and hydrogen vehicle discount. If the electric and hydrogen vehicle discount code is registered on the Hi-Pass device, the higher discount will be automatically applied when using the toll during commute hours.

Vehicles receiving personal discounts such as for persons with disabilities or veterans can receive the electric and hydrogen vehicle discount even if the eligible person is not on board, provided the electric and hydrogen vehicle discount code is registered on the Hi-Pass device. However, if using a fingerprint recognition discount device, to receive the personal discount, the vehicle must use the general lane exit, and to receive the electric and hydrogen vehicle discount, the Hi-Pass must be used.
