A woman in Australia who stopped taking birth control pills has sparked controversy by claiming that she "developed an aversion to men and simultaneously experienced a change in her sexual identity." As similar cases of people realizing their homosexual tendencies after discontinuing birth control pills flood in, interest is growing in the connection between birth control pills and sexual identity.

According to a report by the Daily Mail on the 20th (local time), Amy Parker (28) from Adelaide, Australia, stopped taking birth control pills after breaking up with her boyfriend of seven years in February. Three months later, Amy met a new man but suddenly felt an aversion to the opposite sex and could no longer continue the relationship. One day, she suddenly wondered, "What if I dated a woman?" and tried meeting someone through a dating app, experiencing what she described as a "sexual awakening."

Amy said, "The disgust and anxiety I felt when dating men disappeared. At first, I was confused about why I was feeling these emotions." She recalled, "I knew that birth control pills could affect sexual attraction, but I never expected such a drastic change. I had always considered myself heterosexual. It was an eye-opening moment."

Amy confessed, "My ex-boyfriend and I were deeply in love. This year, we were planning to start a family. He was my best friend and the only person I trusted in the world. But after stopping the birth control pills I had taken daily since I started menstruating at 15, I found it difficult to communicate with the opposite sex. I lost interest in men."

She revealed, "I think my sexual orientation was hidden because of the birth control pills I took for 13 years. I don't think I will ever love a man again." Amy is currently in a relationship with a woman named Bonnie and they have been dating for four months. Amy emphasized, "Dating someone of the same sex is incomparable to dating the opposite sex. It makes me sad that it took me 28 years to realize my sexual identity. Now, I want to say that I am 100% homosexual. I can never go back to men."

Similar cases to Amy's were reported last year as well. Previously, three women revealed that they realized their homosexual tendencies after stopping birth control pills. The media noted that academic research in this field is still lacking, but many similar experiences are being shared online. Attention is focusing on the connection between birth control pills and sexual identity.
