Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 26th that it held the inauguration ceremony for the ‘2025 Gwangju City Nuisance Wildlife Damage Prevention Team’ at Sunam Hall in City Hall on the 24th.

At the inauguration ceremony, Mayor Bang Se-hwan of Gwangju City personally attended and presented appointment certificates to 24 hunters selected through an open recruitment process, encouraged them, and provided the 2025 activity plan along with firearm safety accident education.
Gwangju City operates the damage prevention team every year to effectively prevent damage to crops or human life caused by nuisance wildlife such as wild boars and water deer due to population increase and food shortage, and to prevent the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF).
This year, the Gwangju City Nuisance Wildlife Damage Prevention Team captured a total of 1,622 nuisance wildlife, including 582 wild boars and 1,040 water deer.
Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “The active role of the damage prevention team members is important to prevent the outbreak of African Swine Fever and crop damage,” and added, “Please be careful of firearm safety accidents during capture activities.”
